When it comes to choosing a weapon of your choice for your airsoft games, an airsoft shotgun will usually not be a players primary weapon.  Traditionally though there is always an attraction to the massive destruction shotguns are known to do.  This does not change much when it comes to airsoft shotguns as well.  Airsoft shotguns are weapons primarily used for short range.  At short range an airsoft shotgun is very effective enabling the player to shoot in the general vicinity of the enemy multiple airsoft bbs simultaneously in one shot as opposed to one precise shot.  Another reason why airsoft shotguns are the prefered weapon for many when it comes to CQB or any other short range games is because of the airsoft shotguns aibility to shoot up to 15 airsoft bbs per shot, making this weapon extremely effective against moving targets in close range.

There are many different kind of models and types of airsoft shotguns on the market today.  One good thing about airsoft shotguns is that they are fairly cheap compared to other airsoft rifles, airsoft aeg, or airsoft pistols,  so buying one will not put you in the hole so much.  Most of the airsoft shotguns on the market today are either gas powered or spring airsoft shotguns.  A gas powered airsoft shotgun is known to be noticeably underpowered especially when comparing it to a spring airsoft shotgun.

In today’s market manufacturers work endlessely to make their airsoft guns look & feel more realistic.  In addition they also aim to give their airsoft guns the same functionability as the real weapons.  In the case of the airsoft shotgun, most found in todays market are life size scale of the real ones.  With a spring airsoft shotgun you will also have to pump the shotgun after each and every shot which will prepare the airsoft shotgun to be fired, very similar to re-cocking a real shotgun.

All in all, the shotgun makes a perfect close quarters weapon or a secondary airsoft weapon.   It also makes a great gun to add to your stable of airsoft guns.  It is perfect for a person known not to be a perfect marksman, giving him the advantage of shooting multiple airsoft bbs in one shot at the general vicinity of the enemy.  The intimidation factor is always present when it comes to shotguns! and you can be sure to put some fear into your oponents when they see your airsoft shotgun barrel pointed at them.  When shopping for an airsoft shotgun it is good to ask around and talk to airsoft players that have been around for a while before making a rushed buy.   You also want to stick with a spring airsoft shotgun that will be able to shoot atleast 300 FPS, especially if you plan on using it in airsoft squirmishes.   If you are a beginner looking to buy your first airsoftgun the airsoft shotgun is not recommended as a first weapon.  For the rest of us airsoft players happy shopping!  May I suggest also a airsoft shotgun shell belt to add to your collection of airsoft gear! not only is it functional but gives you extra points in the intimidation department .
